A Message to Fans from Mike

Hello ladies, gentlemen, kids , dogs, brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, and uncles and all music lovers especially blues fans, my name is Michael James "Blues" Baker I am a blues guitarist, singer and performer of 37 years in the Maryland D.C and Virginia areas. I am starting this blog to generally express myself in a good way. I am blind from birth with pediatric glaucoma but only in one eye until 1988 when an accident blinded the other eye. Since then, I've still been playing music, performing, raising children and giving back to the community although it hasn't been easy.

But I am always grateful to share the talent that God gave me with whom ever I meet. That is what keeps me going plus a lovely wife of 30 years and two good kids. Blues music has been a part of my life early on with my father James Baker, Master Sergeant U.S Army and my mother Virginia Baker. I grew up in the 50's and 60's playing guitar. My influences are very large ranging (if you know what I mean.)

As I continue with this blog once a month I will be letting you in on the comings and goings and the ups and the downs, the times of enjoyment, and the adventures of the band Blues Smoke Blues Band which is the outfit that myself and Dan Milkman started in 1989. The band consists of Milkman on guitar, Leo Aspiras on bass, Bill Falk on drums, and Blues Baker on guitar and vocals. We have had numerous adventures playing the blues circuit these many years. You shall hear some of these stories and leave it to you blues fans if it's true or not. Sometimes I couldn't believe the things that happened. Needless to say the band has survived and we still keep rolling and playing and being a family I could not ever realize how important this band is to me. Life goes on music goes on and you be hearing from Michael James "Blues" Baker next month. I'll be seeing you soon.
